Hot Off The Press: Quad/Graphics Grows In Oklahoma

When officials with Quad/Graphics were searching for a location for their newest printing facility, the advantages of locating in Oklahoma were numerous. Company officials point to the state's tremendous work ethic, incentives, and accessibility-making Oklahoma the perfect place for future growth.

Located on 168 acres 12 miles south of downtown Oklahoma City, Quad/Graphics' 1,000,000 square-foot printing facility will eventually grow to 2 million square feet and employ upwards of 1,200.

"Quad/Graphics' clients were excited about Oklahoma City because it gave several of them a much-needed presence in the south," said Charles Kimbrough, Oklahoma Department of Commerce recruiter. "Once the facility was up and running, existing clients shifted work to the Oklahoma City plant and new customers came on board."

Oklahoma's central location made it ideal for Quad/Graphics' distribution needs by offering instant accessibility to I-40 & I-35, the primary east-west  and north-south interstate corridor that Quad uses to distribute their Oklahoma City product. In addition, Oklahoma City is within one days drive of Quad/Graphics' existing production plants in Georgia and Wisconsin.

CareerTech's nationally recognized Training for Industry Program has assisted the Oklahoma City plant in both growing and training its workforce. Quad/ Graphics was offered the standard state incentives such as the Quality Jobs Program, five year property tax abatements, and state tax credits.

And things are moving ahead even faster than expected at the Oklahoma City plant. Gravure operations are set to launch this year - one year sooner than previously announced - and include the industry's fastest, most productive gravure presses.
