Governor Brad Henry has approved legislation that will help cut costs for Oklahoma businesses and provide health coverage to thousands of uninsured Oklahomans.
SB 1546, which implements a portion of the governor's health care initiative, authorizes the state to provide premium assistance to employers to help them provide health coverage to their employees. By providing premium assistance, the program will encourage businesses to offer or continue health insurance coverage for their employee groups.
"This will help us address one of the fastest-rising costs for business -- health care coverage," says Gov. Henry. "By helping them help their employees, we can cut costs for business, providing medical coverage to the uninsured and compensate health care providers for the services they render." More
