Oklahoma City Among Fastest Growing Large Metropolitan Areas For Personal Income Growth In 2008
August 7, 2009 -- The Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) reports Oklahoma City is among the six fastest-growing large metropolitan statistical areas (MSAs) in 2008 for per capita personal income growth, with an annual growth rate of 6.9% between 2007 and 2008.
The BEA defines large MSAs as those with have populations of over 1 million people.
Oklahoma’s other three metropolitan areas are also experiencing strong per capita personal income growth. As for other Oklahoma metropolitan areas; Among all 366 MSAs in the nation, Lawton ranks 11th nationally in annual per capita personal income growth at 6.8%. while Tulsa ranks 44th in the nation at 4.9% for growth between 2007 and 2008. Fort Smith, which straddles the Oklahoma and Arkansas border, ranked 149th for growth at 3.2%.
