Commerce Adds Wind Specialist

November 12, 2008 -- The Oklahoma Department of Commerce recently added Kylah McNabb as a wind energy development specialist in the State Energy Office (SEO). Commerce manages the funds and programs of the U.S. Department of Energy.

"Kylah will play a critical role in helping us position Oklahoma as a national leader in wind energy production, promotion and education," said Vaughn Clark, Commerce Director of Community Development. "The Commerce Department, as the state’s lead economic development agency, wants to build a wind power industry cluster second to none and develop a plan to succeed in the green technology field."

Clark said the wind specialist position is a collaborative effort between Commerce and CareerTech.

McNabb is the former Director of the Oklahoma Wind Power Initiative (OWPI). She also worked for a major wind development firm prior to joining the Commerce team.

"I am excited about this new opportunity and look forward to promoting wind power as an economic development tool that will help Oklahoma create quality jobs and continue to thrive in the sustainable energy sector," McNabb said. 

McNabb will collaborate with CareerTech to develop curriculum and training opportunities for wind technicians.
