The Oklahoma State Energy Office champions the cause of energy efficiency on behalf of the U.S. Department of Energy. The office serves as a convener of ideas, organizations, business and private citizens to practice and identify new ways to use our energy resources wisely to power our homes, businesses, and transportation.
Operated by the Oklahoma Department of Commerce, the State Energy Office looks at energy efficiency as a tool for economic development to help sustain and grow Oklahoma communities.
Primary Tasks of the State Energy Office
- Promote partnerships between private citizens and businesses to encourage energy-efficiency and pursue renewable energy projects;
- Educate about renewable energy, energy efficiency and energy-saving opportunities;
- Facilitate the deployment of new energy efficiency and renewable energy technologies and practices;
- Promote economic growth with improved environmental quality;
- Provide technical assistance to communities;
- Administer grants funded by the DOE State Energy Program and Special Projects;
- Facilitate energy policy discussion.
