Tulsa And Oklahoma City Among America’s Most Livable Cities

April 7, 2009 -- Tulsa and Oklahoma City recently received high marks from a new survey by Forbes that ranks them among America's most livable cities.  Tulsa ranked 5th, while Oklahoma City was ranked 6th.

The Forbes survey examined a variety of figures including crime, unemployment, and culture.

"This ranking simply verifies what the Tulsa Metro Chamber is reporting every day," Tulsa Metro Chamber CEO Mike Neal tells the Tulsa World. "The Tulsa region is faring much better during this U.S. recession than other metro regions. As the nation recovers, the Tulsa region continues to invest in our communities and will be at an advantage point while other regions begin to emerge from this economic downturn."

In the area of crime, per 100,000 residents, Tulsa ranked 250th. For unemployment Tulsa ranked 21st.

Oklahoma City ranked 287th for crime per 100,000 residents.  Oklahoma City also posted strong numbers for income growth, ranking 41st.
