2010 Governor’s Award for Excellence in Exporting Nominations Being Accepted

February 1, 2010 -- In conjunction with the 2010 Governor's Award for Excellence in Exporting to be held April 14 at the Hilton in Tulsa, you are invited to nominate your company for the annual Governor's Award for Excellence in Exporting. Nominations will be reviewed and the winners selected by the Awards Committee of the Oklahoma District Export Council.

The Governor's Award for Excellence in Exporting recognizes one or more Oklahoma firms annually for noteworthy success in maintaining or increasing export sales. Firms selected to receive the award represent role models for excellence in international business. In addition, this award provides an opportunity to build public support for international business activity by Oklahoma firms.

U.S. Trade Representative Seeks to Boost Home-Grown Jobs, Global Exports

January 25, 2010 -- The Office of the United States Trade Representative recently connected with small- and medium-sized businesses from across the United States at a conference event entitled "Jobs on Main Street, Customers Around the World: A Positive Trade Agenda for US Small- and Medium-Sized Enterprises." 

The event at the Peterson Institute for International Economics was part of a weeklong effort highlighting the commitment of USTR and partner agencies, such as the Department of Commerce and the Small Business Administration, to supporting economic recovery through export-oriented growth.  USTR, as the nation's lead trade policy agency, is working to make trade policy work better for America's small- and medium-sized businesses - America's biggest job creators and a wellspring of export potential.

Basics of Exporting Workshop Coming Feb. 16 to OKC

What: Exporting Basics Workshop Sponsored by the Oklahoma District Export Council

January 20, 2010 -- For a fee of only $35 participants will receive nearly seven hours of expert advice on export assistance organizations, basic export market research, choosing direct/ indirect exporting, choosing an export strategy, organizing an export operation, export pricing, establishing overseas markets, communications, evaluating overseas contacts, methods of payment and financing, and export quotations. Presenters will include international bankers, international attorneys, international business practitioners, and Oklahoma U. S. Export Assistance Center International Trade Specialists.

Your registration fee will also include a networking luncheon.
