September 2, 2009 – The Tulsa World reports the Port of Muskogee will receive $1.4 million from the federal government to help lure a wind tower manufacturer.
The U.S. Department of Commerce announced the Economic Development Administration grant will help design and construct improvements on about 100 acres at the port’s industrial park. A wind tower manufacturer could create 100 jobs and general $15 million in private investment.
Muskogee Port Director Scott Robinson tells the World the 100 acres needs improvements to help raise the sites above 100-year flood plain levels and help with drainage.
"We’ve been working with several prospects and we do think that the port is a great place for a wind turbine or a wind tower manufacturer," Robinson tells the World.
