Recycling Company Plans New Plant And 700 New Jobs In Okmulgee

November 5, 2009 - A $150 million complex that will eventually employ 700 people will soon break ground in Okmulgee. 

Waste Not Technologies of Destin, FL, will construct an industrial plant that will turn residential and commercial waste into a variety of product including plastic pallets and plastic railroad ties. Construction of the 800,000 square feet of combined office and manufacturing space on a 250-acre site, will begin by year's end, and should be complete in two years.

Waste Not's plans call for an initial eight-hour shift of 700 workers to handle 1,000 tons of trash a day, eventually expanding to three shifts and 1,400 workers processing 3,000 tons of garbage.

Waste Not will accept trash from the surrounding area and possibly other states. The company will separate the materials and send them to specific processing and manufacturing plants within the business park.

Okmulgee officials say Waste Not selected Okmulgee because of the large site and its accessibility by road and rail.
