Company Will Manufacture Jet Engine Stands; Employ 100 in Roland Facility
June 24, 2009 -- C.E. Aerospace today announced plans to open a jet engine stand manufacturing facility in Roland, OK. Cal Edwards, owner of CE Aerospace, said the new company will have about 100 employees with an average annual salary of more than $30,000. The company is relocating from Ft. Smith, Arkansas in order to expand its production capability and staff.
"In Roland, C.E. Aerospace will have plenty of room to expand and to service, design and manufacture high quality ground support equipment for the transportation, maintenance, and assembly of turbine powered aircraft," Edwards said. "By using our experienced engineering talents and a committed manufacturing force, we serve the needs of airlines, aircraft manufacturers, and aircraft maintenance facilities." June 8, 2009 -- The annual North America Cities of the Future report published by lists Oklahoma City as the most cost effective large city in the United States and the third most cost effective city in North America.
In the small city category, Tulsa ranked No. 8 as a "city of the future."

Attendees Plan to Showcase Oklahoma's Flourishing Life Sciences Community
May 20, 2009 -- Over 60 Oklahomans will take the floor of the Georgia World Congress Center this week, providing a big presence for the state at one of the world's largest industry networking events, the Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO) 2009 trade show, according to The Oklahoman.
Those in attendance will be seeking to connect with potential business partners, clients and investors among the anticipated 20,000 people at the annual BIO convention.

April 13, 2009 - The Tulsa World reports Tulsa and Oklahoma City are among a select group of metro areas that as of January hadn't succumbed to the recession, according to an index on msnbc.com.
The Adversity Index shows Oklahoma City and Tulsa among 27 metro areas that were "at risk" of recession, but had not fallen in yet. Oklahoma was one of only six states that had not fallen into recession but was "at risk" of recession. Every other state in the country was listed as being in recession. March 30, 2009 - Forbes ranks Oklahoma City 12th and Tulsa 47th on its list of "Best Places for Businesses and Careers." Lawton was ranked 102nd among small metropolitan areas.
Oklahoma City ranks 23rd in business costs, 31st in expected job growth and 97th in education. March 27, 2009 - A new survey by MSN Money finds Oklahoma residents pay the least amount of combined federal, state, and local taxes per capita in the United States.
Oklahoma residents pay 27.8%, while other states like New York 37.1% and Nevada 35.2% pay taxes per capita at a much higher rate.

Factors in the determination included "growth in households from 2000 to 2008 and from 2007 to 2008, the emergence in new neighborhoods, the average length of residence and the change in household income."
BusinessWeek wrote, "Owasso, a suburb just north of Tulsa, has been growing rapidly this decade, in part because of its strong schools and healthy economy." Between 2000 and 2008, Owasso's household growth rose 47% and the average household income grew 18%. |
