Boeing Sees Success at Oklahoma Hiring Fair

In early December, Boeing hosted a hiring fair in the Oklahoma City metro area — the line of applicants waiting to meet with recruiters was so long, Boeing opened the doors to the job fair half an hour early. Not long after the fair began, the line of potential applicants was out the door.

Over the past year, Boeing has hired approximately 500 people for its Oklahoma City operations. The company is hoping to hire about 600 more in 2016, with most of the positions including highly skilled engineering jobs, as well as some support positions.

“We see a bright future here in Oklahoma City because it’s such a skilled and motivated workforce,” said Ben Davis, a spokesman for Boeing.

In July 2015, Boeing announced that it would make Oklahoma City the new headquarters for aircraft modernization. The company is currently constructing a new $80-million, 290,000 square foot building that will house engineering employees. The building is scheduled to be completed in summer 2016.

“There is a great, talented pool of workers here in Oklahoma City,” said Donna Wildrick, who leads recruiting efforts at Boeing.
