SportChassis specializes in crafting luxury haulers that blend unparalleled performance with top-tier craftsmanship. Driven by innovation and a passion for excellence, they deliver trucks that redefine the journey. Commerce sat down with Brian Aneshansley, CEO, and David Berrong, Mayor of Clinton, to discuss why SportChassis started in Oklahoma and how it has continued to grow for the last 30 years.
Q: Tell us about SportChassis.
Brian Aneshansley, CEO of SportChassis Holdings: SportsChassis is a premier manufacturer of heavy pickup trucks for a hobby market. We’ve been around for the last 30 years. We typically build for people that are hauling heavy RV fifth wheels. We also sell into the equine market where you have people hauling their horses around. And then we sell in the motor sports market. We’re an original equipment manufacturer. There’s not very many of those like us in the state that are completing a vehicle out and selling it as a whole. So it kind of makes us a little unique in the state. We are in a very unique situation. There’s not very many small companies in little rural Oklahoma that have gone out and made the worldwide impact that we have.
Q: How have partnerships with Commerce and other local entities been throughout the years?
Brian Aneshansley: SportsChassis has always had a great relationship with both the city of Clinton and the state of Oklahoma. We literally would not be here today if it wasn’t for both of those two entities.
David Berrong, Mayor of the City of Clinton: SportChassis is a result of a 30 year growth process. I’ve been fortunate enough, before I became Mayor, to be a citizen in Clinton and watch this happen. It started back around 1995, when two gentlemen got together, Tim Sinor and Brian Aneshansley, and they looked at this building. The city of Clinton joined them in the effort to make this possible, through tax breaks, programs that were out there.
Q: What benefits do you have by being located in Oklahoma?
Brian Aneshansley: Some of the biggest advantages that we see of being a business in Oklahoma – the state is extremely business friendly. The workers that we have have a very high work ethic. They want to come to work. They’re proud of what they do. And finally, we’re right in the middle of the United States. Not very many of our trucks get sold in Oklahoma. But being where we’re at, we can get a truck anywhere in the United States.
Q: How has SportChassis contributed to the Clinton community & economy?
David Berrong: What they brought to Clinton has been a higher wage form. They employ, I think now, some 70, 75 people at this point. They are a part of that community. We’re thankful they’re here. It’s a matter of pride knowing that they’re homegrown and they created this wonderful industry in Clinton.
