A Broken Arrow-based manufacturing company said it will add 100 jobs over the next five years. CymSTAR, which uses mechanical, electrical and software engineering to modify simulators for the U.S. military, will be hiring electrical and mechanical engineers, technicians and administrative staff.

“Jobs are what’s really important in Broken Arrow,” Mayor Craig Thurmond said. “That’s something we’ve focused on the last 10 years. I want to thank the state of Oklahoma for their Quality Jobs Act. Without that, we wouldn’t be growing jobs here. We want to thank CymSTAR and what they are doing.”
The state’s Quality Jobs Program is an incentive that targets manufacturers and certain service industries that have an annual new payroll investment of $2.5 million or more, allowing them to qualify for a quarterly cash payment of up to 5 percent of new taxable payroll.
CymSTAR does look to hire college graduates and retired military with the correct training and education. College grads at CymSTAR can earn between $60,000 to $80,000 annually, depending on the discipline, said Stankiewicz, adding that CymSTAR benefits from the backing of the Quality Jobs Program.
“The work we do is very capital-intensive from the standpoint of people,” he said. “People are our most important resource.”
In 2017, USA Today named Broken Arrow as the United States’ 29th best city for residents.
“Cities don’t become livable without jobs and without investment in infrastructure,” said Wes Smithwick, president and CEO of the Broken Arrow Chamber of Commerce. “The announcement (Monday) plays right in hand with that.”
