Commerce Aligns to Sector-Based Economic Development Recruitment

The Oklahoma Department of Commerce (Commerce) has realigned its Business Development team to focus on sector-based recruitment of economic development projects. As part of this effort, Commerce is in the process of hiring a Business Recruiter focused on the agricultural industry.

“We are working to grow our own here in Oklahoma, and part of that effort involves realigning our recruitment tactics to more specific industry focuses,” said Brent Kisling, Commerce Executive Director. “This helps our community partners to know who on our staff to reach out to regarding local opportunities while also giving us the opportunity to strengthen our supply chains in a way that makes sense for economic diversification and to the benefit of Oklahoma companies.”

“Oklahoma’s agricultural industry has a lot of untapped potential,” said Blayne Arthur, Oklahoma Secretary of Agriculture. “From food processing and fertilizer manufacturing to animal and grain production, we have a well-established industry that highlights our state’s business case for potential companies. I am excited that Commerce is increasing its focus on this vital industry and we look forward to working alongside them to find new and innovative ways to add value to the rich agricultural commodities we raise in our state.”
