The U.S. Department of Energy has approved Oklahoma's plan for the Energy Efficient Appliance Rebate program. Oklahoma will receive a $3.5 million federal grant for appliance rebates. The program is designed for Oklahoma residents to buy energy-efficient appliances from Oklahoma retailers to replace existing appliances in Oklahoma single residences.
Only qualified ENERGY STAR appliance purchase on or after the program start date of April 22, 2010, are eligible for rebates. Learn more at the Oklahoma Recovery website.
Oklahoma reaches for the stars with the 21st Century Quality Jobs incentive which provides cash back up to 10% on new payroll for up to 10 years. BUT, the new jobs must pay an average wage of the lesser of $94,418 or 300% of the county's average wage. Now THOSE are Quality Jobs!
This incentive targets knowledge-based service industries, such as professional, scientific and technical services, specialty hospitals, music, film and performing arts.

March 12, 2010 -- Online news site The Daily Beast has ranked Oklahoma 13th for job growth prospects. The ranking took into account 2006-2016 employment projections from each state's labor department and updated them using national employment projections through 2018.
Rankings also weighed actual change in employment between 2006 and 2009 for each state and the current unemployment rates. Oklahoma's current unemployment rate is 6.7%.
Wyoming ranked #1 in the survey, while Michigan took the bottom spot. Also in the top five were Colorado, Louisiana, Texas, and New Hampshire.

March 10, 2010 - On May 3, Tulsa Community College will kick off Launch - Your Entrepreneurial Journey, a program designed to accelerate the start-up process by walking people interested in the entrepreneurial journey through the steps required to build a company.
In 16 weekly experiential business-building sessions, aspiring entrepreneurs will move through the development of a start-up to the core business model to the bootstrapping process. Each session will be led by entrepreneurial thought leaders who will share their unique and often challenging experiences on the start-up process. At the end of the 16-week program entrepreneurs will have an operating business and/or prototype ready to go to market.
