Oklahoma’s Film & Music Industry

Make more in America's most diverse landscape.

From script to screen and first note to final mix, Oklahoma has long been a place where creativity comes alive.

A state that gave the world Will Rogers and Woody Guthrie now draws Academy Award–winning filmmakers, acclaimed television series, and today’s top singers and songwriters. It’s cinematic scale, without coastal costs.

One of the Best Film Rebates in the Country

In 2021, Oklahoma created one of the country’s most competitive film incentive programs, with cash rebates of up to 30%. Twisters, Killers of the Flower Moon, and The LowDown are just a few that have reaped the benefits.

Infrastructure & Assets

Oklahoma’s film and music infrastructure has matured quickly. Along with some of the most diverse locations in the business, creating here opens doors to historic creative spaces, modern soundstages, and a film and music office known for being knowledgeable and highly nimble.

Our local film and music industries have flourished and continue to strengthen, in part, due to Oklahoma’s film incentive which offers one of the strongest and most-competitive programs in the U.S. We are proud to open our doors for all people and hold a place of consideration for film, television and music productions ranging in diversity and size.

Film & Music Incentives & Tax Credits

Oklahoma understands how productions actually spend money. That’s why its incentives combine competitive cash rebates with location, soundstage, and post-production uplifts, making more of your budget end up on screen or stage.

Filmed in Oklahoma Act

Few states can do better for your budget than Oklahoma. Approved projects under the state’s Filmed in Oklahoma Act receive a 20% base cash rebate, with the opportunity to reach 30% through stackable uplifts, including rural county filming, soundstage use, television production, Oklahoma-based post-production, and more.

Oklahoma offers a 20% base incentive for post-production work completed in-state — even for projects filmed outside Oklahoma. Additional uplifts are available for television pilots and full seasons, making Oklahoma a compelling option for editing, scoring, sound, and finishing work.

Qualified film productions are exempt from state sales tax on production-related goods and services, with no minimum spend requirement. Combined with Oklahoma’s 4.5% state sales tax and modest local rates, the savings add up quickly.
